THERE'S AN ENGLISH KID WITH A TELESCOPE ON THE HIGHLINE IN NEWYORK

‚Äč

A blackout in New York City opens up the skies to a young woman, obsessed with finding Sedna. A young woman thrown out of her Women in Science group at a major tier NYC university for being born a man. A lonely women who just wants to connect. But Max is never one to be held back, by anyone, breathless by the pure fucking majesty of it….inspired by the immediacy of a solar system she can almost touch... she starts her own astronomy circle on the Highline above the West Village… Where she is soon joined by a maverick group of waifs and strays -  who gather each night around her tiny donated Celestron Travelscope. And night after night after night they search the skies for the hypothesised planet, drink hard liquor and debate the limits of labels, categories, and classifications. The word planet is as loaded as the language around Max’s own journey. For Sedna, much like Pluto’s own journey from planet to TNO, has found equal acceptance, rejection, confusion and neutrality. And as friendships grow, and roots are finally laid, Max finds it…

90377 Sedna…in all its majesty…

…and something beautiful happens…
